Courses
The IBC Basic, whoever you are. It runs four days and covers roasting, brewing, espresso and latte art, one a day, and it is required before either Advanced course. That holds however long you have worked on a bar or at a roaster. Once you have it, IBC Advanced Barista takes the bar further and IBC Advanced Roasting takes the roast further.
Not as separate courses. Latte art is day 4 of the IBC Basic and brewing is day 2, and you take the whole four days rather than one of them.
Ask us. Message the academy on WhatsApp with your cafe, team size and goal and we will reply with options.
Anyone. If you want to work as a barista, the IBC Basic is four days, one module a day, with the Basic Barista Exam on day 3 and a certificate issued in Italy, and it assumes you have never pulled a shot. If you already work on a bar, you still start here: the Basic is required before either Advanced course. If you run or are opening a cafe, ask us about training a team and we will give you options rather than a package. And if you simply love coffee, latte art is day 4 and brewing is day 2, learned inside the whole four days rather than in an afternoon.
Certification
The IBC is issued in Italy by Espresso Academy and emailed to you after the course. We teach under the supervision of Espresso Academy Italy, and the certificate is awarded at Basic Barista, Advanced Barista and Advanced Roasting. We also give you a participation certificate in person at the campus, which is our own and separate from the IBC.
No. The academy runs the Italian Barista Course, not an SCA course, and it does not assess for SCA certification. What it teaches is training aligned to the SCA Coffee Skills Program, which describes the standard rather than the certificate. If the SCA route is specifically what you want, ask and you will be told where to take it.
Fees
The IBC Basic is ₹26,700 + GST, which is ₹31,506 including GST, down from ₹35,600 + GST. Each Advanced course is ₹30,000 + GST, which is ₹35,400 including GST. Those are the totals: there is nothing to add for the certificate.
₹5,000, whichever course you take. That advance confirms your seat and comes off the fee. Razorpay's payment gateway charge is added at checkout and shown before you pay. It varies by payment method. The balance is paid on the first day, at the academy, by cash, UPI or bank transfer; cards are not accepted for it. On the IBC Basic at the offer price that leaves ₹26,506 incl. GST, and on either Advanced course ₹30,400 incl. GST. Batches are capped at 8 seats for the IBC Basic and 4 for the Advanced courses.
Schedule
Batch dates are on each course page and on the calendar. A batch drops off the calendar once it has started.
Campus
Plot No. 9, Microexcel Plaza, 72, 80 Feet Road, RMV 2nd Stage, near Ramaiah Hospital, Bengaluru 560094.
Careers
A certificate helps you get an interview; your skills get you the job. The IBC Basic is four days of hands-on work, and day 3 ends in the Basic Barista Exam.
